Manchester Royal Infirmary selects Q-Pulse as document control solution

Within healthcare, efficient and effective document management ensures that staff can access up-to-date information that is specific and relevant to them. This enables staff to follow the latest processes and procedures, which could enhance the quality of service delivery and patient care.

In maintaining and improving the management of their controlled documentation, the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Manchester Royal Infirmary have selected Q-Pulse, a compliance management solution from Scottish software developers Gael Ltd.

As part of Central Manchester & Manchester Children’s Hospitals NHS Trust, the Department provides a wide range of nuclear medicine services for patients referred to the Infirmary from throughout the region.

Q-Pulse is the UK’s market-leading solution for managing compliance with standards and regulations such as the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IRMER), Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy (QART) and the Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR). Q-Pulse is used across a broad range of disciplines within healthcare, including Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Oncology, Radiology and Radiotherapy.

The Department wanted to replace their existing manual system in order to reduce the time and effort spent at every stage of the document management process and to enhance document accuracy, including establishing which documents were out-of-date, which personnel had approvals outstanding and which documents had reviews upcoming.

‘Q-Pulse will give us more control and visibility of our documents at each and every stage of the lifecycle,’ says Robert Shields, Manager of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at MRI. ‘This will include the ability to identify outstanding actions and automatically notify appropriate personnel, which should allow us to enhance the accuracy of controlled documents and their associated records.

‘In addition, we should be able to track and monitor our documents throughout the change control process, to identify at-a-glance which documents are due for review, which are being revised and which have been approved. This should enable us to reduce the time and effort that we spend throughout the Department in managing our controlled documentation.’
