Using Qpulse with Process Mapping Software Triaster

Hi all - we are currently looking into buying some new process mapping software from a company called Triaster and apparently, it works very well with Qpulse.  I have yet to see exactly how, but they've said it is possible to link your controlled documents from Qpulse directly onto the maps.  There are customers who apparently use both Triaster and Qpulse and they've given us some names, but I'd prefer to get some feedback from you all as it will be a little more realistic I think.  I'd be interested to know how much you use both pieces of software and how you found it.

    Thanks guys!

Re: Using Qpulse with Process Mapping Software Triaster

    Answer

    Lauren,

    interesting post! Hmm

We don't have any working relationship with Triaster so we can't really comment on how well Q-Pulse works with their software. However, I have been told that their software runs on top of Microsoft Visio. Q-Pulse also handles Visio files comfortably, so I think it should work fine.

It'd be interesting to know - if anyone else in the Community has any experience of this, let Lauren and the rest of us know!

Thanks Dan - They were very enthusiastic about claiming they run very well with Qpulse, BUT I am skeptical as the contacts they gave me are still on version 4 and I'm slightly suspicious that the document links they are claiming actually link to drive holding documents, rather than to embeded documents in Qpulse.

However, I'll be given a demo shortly of how it should work, so we'll see!

Excellent, please do report back with your findings!

Perhaps we (as a community) could work on a list of known compatibility issues and known compatible products. Something for the future! idea

    Lauren,

Embedded process maps should not be an issue as Version 5 contains the ability to manage folders. This was designed for process mapping tools such as Control that don't generate single electronic files but rather folders containing the process hierarchy.

Nothing like a late follow but im curious if its possible to create a hyperlink in a process map, pFMEA etc to an embedded document  Procedure of WI in Q Pulse. My IT manager wont let me rummage on the Q Pulse Server (Cant say I blame him) so Ive no idea how they are stored etc

Hi there - Yes, this is possible, but would currently be way more work than it's worth.  I'm not an IT expert so am probably leaving out a step or two here, but as I understand it, every time a document is embedded into QPulse, it is given a unique reference number.  When that document is revised, it is then given a new unique reference number rather than left with the same one, meaning that every time a document is revised, someone would have to find the unique reference number and re-paste it in the hyperlink.

I've spoken to Gael support about this and asked them if they could consider in a future release keeping the reference number unique to each document number so that anytime it is revised, the link will not be lost.  I think Triaster (the software mapping company) are also in talks with Gael about this as they have a number of customers who also use QPulse but are currently still at version 4.

    Hope that helps!

Just a quick note to say that on reviewing the previous conversation (it was awhile ago so thought I'd refresh my memory), I'm talking about attaching a link to embedded QPulse documents on our process maps.  Ie When a stage on our process map refers to a procedure, there is a link where someone can click on it and the document record will open in QPulse, just like the links sent in emails.

It looks like from above that people were thinking I meant could we attach process maps to QPulse which isn't something we need to do.

    Thanks!
