Attachments in Doc Change Request

 Document Change Request:

If I attach a document in the change request stage, I cannot save the request.

I get an error message -at the active document-not the change request-telling me the document already exist in the location so another file of the same name cannot be saved there also.  I know it exist there. I do not want to move that document, only attach another document-with a different name- in the change request stage.

I have Q-Pulse set to enforce storage location rules. It will copy a document to the specified storage location, but does not delete the document from the place it is currently located.

Is there a fix to these issues?

I would attach a screen shot-but cannot get it to paste in this message. need help with that TOO!

I have had this problem too when a document is already in the folder you want it to stay in. It is a nuisance I agree.

Two 'fixes' : one is to temporarily move back out of the destination directory and move it back in using Q-Pulse!! OR use the option called Off (This attachment will be managed manually) this leaves it where it currently is.

Hi

You used to be able to do this in QP4 but it isn't an option in QP5, unless as previously stated you manually manage your documents - a bit of a waste of lots of other QP functionality. We got round this by creating or moving everything in an unrelated folder and then selecting the add file option then save - with delete original file option ticked, and making sure you do not have the file open at the time. This will then move file to it's final home. Works well and means files are managed.
