Greetings;

In the Asset module in version 5.6, what is the difference between Asset "type" and "description"

“Asset Type” is used to categorise the asset while ‘Description’ identifies a specific item in the category. For example, your organisation may have several photocopiers, so the ‘Asset Type” would be ‘Photocopier’ and the ‘Description’ could be ‘Colour photocopier with collating and stapling facility’.

The ‘Description’ field is one of the searchable keywords fields, so clear descriptions will be a useful aid to locating assets.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Margaret
