I've heard a rumour that N. Middlesex Hospital is attempting to interface QPulse to the e-KSF system to allow the people & training modules to be used to record training & perform competence assessment locally & to upload this information to the national e-KSF system.

Does anyone know whether this is true or have any info?

If it is true, it could represent a major new Unique Selling Point for QPulse as nearly everyone hates the e-KSF system but most of us are forced to use it.

On the same theme, is there any sort of forum for sharing practice in implementing the Training module in NHS organisations? I also heard a rumour that there was going to be a meeting in 2009, somewhere in the SE, but never found out where or when.

Hi Gary,

Gael have been in communication with N. Middlesex Hospital, although we are not building a direct link to the E-KSF. It has been agreed is that Gael will work with N. Middlesex in developing the Training and People module to enhance the process of managing the KSF requirements in Q-Pulse.

Keep us all informed of progress Gregor. This is eagerly awaited for many of us in the Health Service.

KSF is a worhwhile exercise but gets a bad press because it's complex/complicated. Hopefully Q-Pulse can rationalise and simplify these on-going repeating events.

Now that it is recognised that KSF was too complicated and has low takeup & should be simplified (see the pages at
http://www.nhsemployers.org/PayAndContracts/AgendaForChange/KSF/Pages/Appraisal-and-simplified-KSF.aspx
for the overview of the simplified KSF approach

http://www.nhsemployers.org/PayAndContracts/AgendaForChange/KSF/Pages/Appraisalstoolsandtips.aspx
for simplified, non e-KSF appraisal templates
http://www.nhsemployers.org/PayAndContracts/AgendaForChange/KSF/Pages/AdaptingKSF.aspx
for case studies for simplified KSF appraisals - particularly the NHS Direct one where they threw away everything except the 6 Core Dimensions
&
http://www.nhsemployers.org/PayAndContracts/AgendaForChange/KSF/Pages/FAQs-simplified-KSF.aspx#6
for the "Is the KSF mandatory" section (It is))

& now that  it seems that e-KSF is to be allowed to die slowly & be replaced by local ESR records  or any system you want to use so long as it copes with KSF in a basic way & allows you to cope with the Gateway problem see http://www.nhsemployers.org/PAYANDCONTRACTS/AGENDAFORCHANGE/KSF/Pages/e-KSFEndofcentralfunding.aspx

what are NHS Trusts doing near you?

Are there any plans to useQPulse, either just for existing using department or Trustwide?
